North Shore Controls designs, builds, installs, and services industrial control systems for material recovery facilities, processing plants, and mining operations across North America. Hand-assembled panels. Forty years of proven uptime. A team that answers the phone when it matters.

The core of North Shore Controls has always been hands-on industrial work. We engineer custom controls, fabricate them in Vancouver, install them in the field, and stand behind them for the life of the system.
National panel builders treat BC as a satellite market. We treat it as our home market, because it is. Here is what that means for your project.
Our shop, our techs, and our spare parts inventory are all in the Lower Mainland. No out-of-province travel premiums, no two-day response windows for an emergency call.
Every panel we build and every install we run is signed off under BC electrical code and inspected through Technical Safety BC. For out-of-province suppliers, that's a retrofit. For us, it's the only way we've ever built.
The same specialist who designed your system commissions it, and the same team supports it for decades. No handoffs, no warranty disputes between vendors. We are still supporting systems we built in the early 2000s.
Every control panel we build leaves our New Westminster shop certified to both UL 508A and CSA C22.2 No. 14 — the North American benchmarks for industrial control panel construction. The CSA (Canadian Standards Association) mark is the standard BC electrical inspectors and Technical Safety BC look for, and it's built into every panel we produce. Certification means third-party inspection at every stage, documented wiring practices, and approved components that facility electrical authorities accept without question.

Every engagement follows a proven sequence — from mapping your process flow to commissioning the control system that runs it. The same team designs it, builds it, and stands behind it for the life of the system.
We walk your facility, map your process flow, document existing systems, and identify integration points. No assumptions — everything scoped from the field up.
Electrical drawings, I/O schedules, panel layouts, and control narratives. Full documentation package delivered before a wire is pulled.
Built in our New Westminster shop to UL and CSA standards. Schneider Electric, Rockwell, and multi-vendor configurations.
Our licensed electricians manage the full installation — conduit, cable tray, field wiring, and commissioning support from our automation team.
Loop checks, drive tuning, PLC program verification, and SCADA integration. We don't leave until every step of your process flow runs to spec.
24/7 service response, planned maintenance programs, and Panel IQ remote monitoring. We stand behind every system we build.
Our purpose-built monitoring and diagnostics platform.
Live data, predictive maintenance, LOTO Logbook and AR-assisted
field service — built specifically for the systems we install.

North Shore Controls was founded by Steve Howarth — electrician and automation specialist with decades of hands-on experience in industrial control systems. Under his leadership, NSC has grown into a team of certified tradespeople, controls specialists, and field technicians who share the same standard: do it right, document it properly, and stand behind it for the life of the system. Every person on the NSC team has been on the tools. When you call us, you're talking to people who understand your facility and speak your language.
Whether you're planning a new facility, upgrading an existing system, or need rapid response on a critical failure — we're ready to help. We're also hiring. If you're a field technician looking to join a hands-on team, select Hiring in the form below.
